Mechanical Engineering Intern

Job Title:  Mechanical Engineering Intern                   Reports to: Team Lead

FLSA Status: Part-Time (Non-Exempt)                                      


Position Objective:

  • To support an interdisciplinary research and development team that collects data, analyzes experimental data, and implements new generation scientific algorithms in the areas of mechanical engineering and material science


Essential Functions:

  • Support resolution of software issues and requests from customers
  • Support the troubleshooting and debugging of software
  • Assist with enhancement of software functionality
  • Maintain positive customer relations, to include project status updates
  • Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports
  • Other related duties as assigned


Required Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s Mechanical Engineering program, with a consistently superior academic record in Mathematics and Physics
  • Knowledge or experience in C++ object modeling and software development
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Effective problem solving
  • Attention to detail and effective time and schedule management skills
  • Ability to adapt within a small team to support evolving customer requirements


Preferred Qualifications

  • A minor degree or dual degree in Mathematics or Physics


Citizenship/Security Clearance Requirements:

  • U.S. Person
  • May be required to obtain and maintain U.S. Government Security Clearance


About Our Internships:

Hours: The internship is a part-time, year-round position that requires a minimum of sixteen hours per week of work. The hours are flexible, and they can change from one quarter to another based on class schedule. The weekly hours can be adjusted to balance for the examinations, tests, and project submissions.
